My friend Laurie gave birth to her first baby, Isabella, on March 15th. Isabella weighed 10lbs 8oz. Yes, that's right - 10 and a half pounds. There must be something in the water at work because Natalie was 9lbs 13oz, then in February my friend Laura at work had her baby Eric and he was 9lbs 5oz and then Isabella came along at 10lbs 8oz. What is with all the big babies? Laura didn't expect to have a big baby this time around either (guess we were both naiive) because Andrew was only 6lbs 13oz and of course Rachel was only 7lbs 3oz...who would have thought we'd have big babies the next time around?
Anyway...back on track here...Isabella & Laurie came over to see us last Monday. Laurie figured it would be easier to come visit us instead of me lugging both girls over to her place....I think she was right! It was great to see her and we had a wonderful visit. I took a picture of the girls and Natalie looks like a 6 month old beside Isabella, even though she was a big baby to start out with...
Isabella was hungry when I took this picture so that's why she looks like she's going to eat Natalie's shoulder. Or maybe she figured that Natalie had enough to spare? ha ha
Yesterday was Laurie's baby shower at work so we headed over there around 3:30 yesterday afternoon (the shower was at 5). The one thing about the showers at work is the amazing food. Not your typical shower food. We have meals...and that's not just because I work for the largest foodservice company in Canada. I just work with a bunch of ladies who are amazing cooks! So we had some pork, meatballs, cheesy potatoes, salads, fruit, taco dip...you name it, we had it. It was a great shower and we had a lot of fun. Natalie slept through most of it (which I'm ok with) and Rachel...well, she was the social butterfly of the group. You can tell I took her there a lot while I was on maternity leave with her because when we pull in the parking lot she gets excited and claps her hands and says 'ohhhh'. When we walk in the building, she pretty much walks around like she owns the place! lol Thank goodness I work with a bunch of amazing people who don't mind finger prints or face prints on the glass wall of their office because that's one of the first things Rachel does. When you walk in our building, the executive offices are right there so Rachel takes off and walks down that hall way peeking in at everyone and waving. Sometimes she'll even walk right in their office. Everyone loves her and it's a nice little break for me :) We haven't been there for a few weeks so Rachel was pretty excited yesterday to see her friends. When it was time to open gifts, Rachel was in there like a dirty shirt. At one point, she must have really liked the one outfit because she grabbed it and started running over towards me saying 'Mom Mom Mom'. She's a keeper!
'Ohhhh Laurie, what do you have there? I think I should help you open it'
Another picture of Rachel checking out some of the gifts for Isabella & Laurie.
Natalie woke up when we were just starting to eat (shocking...this happens ALL OF THE TIME - it honestly doesn't matter what time we eat dinner because she wakes up JUST as I sit down at the table). Thankfully yesterday Ann Marie was there to help out.We got home around 6:30 last night and then we took the girls for a walk. I'm loving this beautiful spring weather we've had this week. It's supposed to be even warmer tomorrow but then they are calling for rain on the weekend. Why does Mother Nature do that?
I'm ready to buy a new digital camera. We bought the one we have right now just before Rachel was born. When we were at the store we explained to the guy that we were having a baby and I'm such a picture person so we wanted a decent camera. You would think when you pay $500 for one it would be decent...well, it was until recently. Now when I'm taking pictures, I'll end up with bright white ones or really dark ones. I'm ok with pictures not turning out BUT it always seems to be the 'best' ones from the series that don't turn out and that really burns my @$$! If we only paid $100 for the camera...fine but when you pay some decent coin for one, you would think it would work better. Someone suggested that I clean the lens but that hasn't helped. I'm beyond frustrated and ready to throw this one out the window....and then go buy another new one. What a waste of money....but my sanity may be worth it! Ron's too :)
