I must admit that it's been fun having a secret for the past 3 months but it's finally time to share our exciting news!
I had a meeting with my staff this morning and I mentioned 'summer holidays' and that the vacation calendar was ready for them at any time - then I said 'And just so you know, I'll be leaving at the end of August.' The look on their faces was PRICELESS. Then I added 'But I'll be back in a year' and I smiled. A few caught on right away and then the rest of the group caught on as well. Everyone is excited for us - it just seems to make this more "real" now.
Next on my list is to send an email to our extended family (since Ron FINALLY told his brothers the news on Friday night). I think I may do that after my nap today! :)
All in all, it was a fun day - although I will admit that I didn't get much work done since I was talking a lot about the new baby! Oh well - there is always tomorrow!

Things that make me cry
1. Voting day - I cried because all the people who were voting cared about Canada.
2. Commercials - Tim Horton's, Dove (the one about how every woman is beautiful, etc).
3. Holmes on Holmes - Episode where they were building an addition for a family with triplets - one was sick - she ended up dying before the addition was done.
4. Ambulance - yes, that's right - I cried the other day on my way home from my manicure because someone pulled over for an ambulance. I realize this is the proper thing to do but soooo many people do NOT do that.
That's all I can think of for now!

Our first ultrasound

What an exciting day today was! Ron and I both took the day off work for our first ultrasound. My appointment was at 10:30 but they didn't call me in until 11:10 or so. Talk about sitting around on a full bladder - YIKES!!! Anyway, it was well worth it because we saw Lil' Bean and everything looks great so far. The baby is measuring 69.9mm (almost 7cm) from crown to rump and the heartbeat was good and strong, too (although I forgot to ask what the heart rate was).
Baby was moving around a lot - must have been the Kool Aid I drank before the ultrasound - hehe. It was hard for the technicican to get all of the measurements and then to take a picture because of the movements...but hey, that's a great sign!
In the picture above, baby's head is to the right and his/her legs are to the left - actually kicking away. The best part is that baby's one hand is on it's head as if to say 'oh what a rough day I've had' - or maybe even 'oh Gawd, are THESE my parents - OY!' ha ha You can see baby's spine very clearly as well (white line)!
So, all in all - we had a wonderful day and now we can start to share our news with EVERYONE!
Only 44 days until our next ultrasound! YIPPEE!!!!

199 days to go!
That's right - we're under the 200 mark now! Time is FLYING by! I'm actually surprised that I'll be 12 weeks pregnant on Thursday of this week. I've already known for almost 9 weeks!!! I'm not trying to wish my pregnancy away but wow - time sure flies when you're puking a lot! ha ha
My latest craving - vanilla milkshakes. Poor Ron was driving around one day trying to find one for me - he went to Harvey's - nope. McDonald's - nope, it was broken. Finally got one at DQ and let me tell you - it was worth all that hassle.
4 more sleeps until the ultrasound!!!! Ron is soooo excited and it's so cute to see. Every night when he tucks me in, he kisses my belly and says 'Good night little bean' or if I've had a rough night of hanging out in the bathroom, he'll say 'Go easy on Mommy, ok?' Makes me want to cry every time! :)
Speaking of crying...Tim Horton's has this new commercial out. A grandfather goes to watch his grandson play hockey and the son doesn't realize that the grandfather used to go watch him play hockey as a child. OMG - the first time I saw that, I was bawling my eyes out! It's one of those commercials that just touches your heart.

Sweet things are the best
Lately I've been eating Toaster Strudel for breakfast. Oh ya - loaded with the icing and a glass of milk - yummy, yummy, yummy! Today though, I thought I should try to eat something a little better for me so I had an english muffin with peanut butter and a glass of milk. Less than 5 minutes later, it had made it's exit. Two things come to mind:
1. I wish we would have installed a garbage disposal for mornings like I had today (no time to make it to the bathroom)
2. We REALLY need to invest in blinds for our family room/kitchen. Our poor neighbours - not that they were looking but IF they were - it was quite a show I put on! :)
The other night I was feeling pretty yucky but as soon as I ate a Creme Egg, my life was great again! It's so strange how when I eat 'junk' food, I feel fine.
I spoke with my Doctor about this the other day - he said as long as I'm keeping food down, the baby will get the nutrients he/she needs so if that means I need to eat junk food, so be it. He told me just to watch is so that I don't put a ton of weight on because of it. Heck, this is the best weight loss program for me so far! ha ha
Oh - my appointment at the doctor on Monday went well. Everything appears to be in order and we're on track with where we should be. I go back in another 4 weeks.
The exciting news is that our first ultrasound is next Friday at 10:30am. I can't wait! :)
I think that is all the news I have to report for now. In conclusion - I'm going back to eating Toaster Strudel for breakfast.

207 days to go
I must admit that yesterday was a GREAT day! I wasn't feeling 'blah' - which kind of scared me a bit but it is around that time where my morning sickness should be going away. YAHOO!
Ron and I went grocery shopping, then out for lunch and then we went shopping for a birthday gift for Dad (his birthday was yesterday - nothing like leaving it to the last minute! ha ha). When we got home, I had a 15 minute nap or so and then Linda came over to help me make Turtle Cheesecake for the Superbowl Party we are going to today. We went to my parents for dinner last night - usually we would go out for a birthday celebration - but since I've been so sick lately, we figured it would be best to stay close to home. I'm happy to repot that dinner stayed down! :)
I'm a little tired today but I have enough time now to go catch some zzzzz's before we go to the party this afternoon. Thankfully it won't be a late night - I need to be in bed by 9 because I have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning at 7:30 and then a doctor's appointment at 8:30 -then off to work :(

Morning Sickness
I would love to speak with the person who came up with the title 'morning sickness'. I WISH it was only in the morning. I'm one of the lucky women - allllllll day sickness. A couple of weeks ago, it felt like I had a hangover all day - now it's more like an intense hangover feeling.
I ended up leaving work early yesterday - around noon - after I was sick in my office. I was getting a little worried because I couldn't keep anything down. With my last pregnancy, I ended up in the hospital on IV because of that - don't want to go down that road again.
I stayed home from work today and I think it was a smart choice. Knock on wood - I haven't been sick to my stomach but I'm taking my Diclectin in the morning, afternoon, & night to ensure that it is in my system at all times. It doesn't take away that 'blah' feeling but it is helping because I've been able to keep my food down today.
I'll be 10 weeks tomorrow - it's amazing how time flies! Let's hope this "morning" sickness only hangs around for a little bit longer.
Jules
