My little cutie patootie

I know I'm biased but darn it, I think Rachel is adorable! Her 'newborn' clothes don't really fit yet - they are still too big but I just can't resist having her wear them! Sleepers are cute but the outfits are just adorable.

Canadian Baby Photographers are coming to the house on Monday. I told Ron that I know we'll be broke after that session because the pictures will be so good. They will be doing Anne Geddes poses as well - they really know how to get your money, don't they? I was thinking it would be fun to keep the pictures a surprise until Christmas but really - who am I kidding? I can't wait that long! And besides - by then, she'll look so different and we'll probably have had a million more pictures taken :)

Rachel & I slept in today - didn't get up until 11:30 so my day is really mucked up! It was nice to sleep though. Rachel was overtired because yesterday she didn't sleep very much during the day. She was only a little cranky for a couple of hours last night but man oh man, I feel bad for the people who deal with that all of the time. I'd go nuts!

I worked on her scrapbooks last night. The first one contains all of the cards we received after she was born. I counted them last night - 112!!! Her other scrapbook is coming along...I'm up to the day she was born (I started on the day we found out we were expecting). I figure once I get to her 'one month' birthday, I'll do a page per month for the rest of her first year. By then the novelty will probably have worn off and she won't have anything for her 2nd year! ha ha

Well, we're off to Michaels to pick up a couple of things for the scrapbook - we need more pages for the books!

What a weekend!

On Friday, September 22nd, I became an Aunt!!! Luke Adrian arrived at 2:40am weighing in at 6lbs 14oz and 19 inches long. We drove up to Clinton to meet Luke on Friday after work. He's such a little fart compared to Rachel. Everyone comments how little she is - well, not beside Luke! She looks like a giant! ha ha Even though Rachel is only 6 weeks old, it's hard to imagine her that small again.

On Saturday my Aunt Gail & Uncle Kevin came up to see Rachel. They spoiled her rotten as well! They have got to be the most generous people I know. Today we decided to put the exersaucer together that they bought her. Once Ron had part of it together, he put Rachel in there...she fell asleep...

I can't wait until she's a little older and plays in this. She's going to have a blast! There are so many things to play with (we didn't get that far in putting it together when we took the picture above) and they are educational as well (which is why we registered for this particular model).

I'm happy to report that Rachel can fit into some of her 3 month outfits now. What's funny though is that some of her newborn outfits are STILL too big! I think it's because her bum is so small. She's still wearing newborn diapers - we tried the size 1 diapers but they are too big. However, the newborn ones are starting to get a little snug on her. We only have 6 or 7 left though so once they are done, we'll start with the size 1 diapers.

I should be going to the mall today to buy more Thank You cards because I'm out of them again and I still have another 12 to write up! I have gone through 90 already! Yes, NINETY thank you cards! Isn't that crazy? Rachel is sooooo spoiled!

Speaking of Rachel - the little munchkin just woke up from her nap and wants to be fed. Off I go...

Compass baby shower

On Thursday, September 21st, Compass (where I work) had a shower for Rachel. We got spoiled rotten! There were about 30 people there, lots of awesome food (cheesy potatoes, ham, veggies, cheese, salads, yummy yummy cake and a bunch of other stuff as well) and Rachel got a ton of gifts. It was very overwhelming actually. These are people I work with and they are throwing me this amazing shower? How did I get so lucky?

Pictures at last!

Blogger was kind enough to let me upload pictures again today!!!!

This is my favourite picture so far. She just looks too darn cute!

Will someone please feed me??

Talking away to the camera!

Auntie Donna bought Rachel a jean jacket. She looks too adorable in it!

A smile & a wave to the camera! This kid is catching on! :)

A much needed update

It has been awhile since I've posted here so I thought I would take the time to do that now while the little princess is sleeping.

Let's go back to Sunday, September 10th. I had my first baby shower...Ron's Mom's side of the family. It was a lot of fun and Rachel got a lot of great gifts. She was actually awake for the whole shower, too - quite an amazing task for those of you who know Rachel (she LOVES to sleep - she gets that from me).

Monday was a great day - Rachel will finally breastfeed without interruptions now. Before she would latch on and feed for about 2-3 minutes and then fall asleep. Now she will stay awake for her full feeding! Even though it took her a month to figure it out - it's well worth it.

Rob & Amanda came over for dinner on Tuesday night and Rachel showed them that she has good little lungs. Ron and I couldn't figure out for the life of us why she was so fussy. The simple answer - she was hungry! ha ha We're terrible parents who just lost track of time I guess.

Auntie Donna came over last night and Rachel was just in 7th Heaven because she got to cuddle. Rachel LOVES to cuddle. Rachel was also spoiled AGAIN by Auntie Donna - she got a jean jacket (too friggin' cute) and a little Halloween onesie. I can't wait for October because Rachel will be wearing that onesie a lot :)

Today we went for Rachel's follow up hearing test. She didn't pass the left ear test in the hospital because there was too much mucus in there from birth. However, today she passed with no problems at all and she was a good girl through the test as well. She slept through it - SHOCKING I know! ha ha

It's going to be a quiet weekend and I'm looking forward to it. We have a few things we want to do around the house and then Steve & Melissa are coming over on Saturday night with their little baby, Kayden. It's kind of weird because Ron works with Steve and I used to work with Melissa. Very small world. Anyway, it will be good to see them - Kayden is only 3 days younger than Rachel. Other than that, we hope to relax this weekend and then before we know it, Monday will be here and we'll be starting another week.

I can't believe I have my 6 week check up with the doctor in a week - it's gone by so fast! And then on Thursday I have a shower at work so that will be great. I'm looking forward to that.

I've tried to upload pictures today but for some reason Blogger is not cooperating. I will try again later.

Appointment with Dr. D & pictures

We had an appointment with Dr. D on Thursday and Rachel is doing well. She's now 8lbs 0.6oz and is 20 3/4" long. Everything is right on track where it should be! :)

Here are some pictures from the other day...

Check out her hair - it matches the hair on the 'chick' on her bib : )

Rachel helped me do laundry on Friday! She's a great little helper!

It amazes me how this kid sleeps sometimes. Sitting upright in her bouncy chair with her arms up by her head. Too cute.

I had to take this picture to show Ron that I didn't think Rachel was cozy sleeping this way. Poor kid!

First day with shoes

Rachel was a little unsure about the 'things' on her feet yesterday. However, she was a good girl and she didn't kick them off!

Some of her newborn clothes are starting to get a little snug on her yet others are still huge! I think one day next week I'm going to go through all of her clothes and get them organized. That will be a fun project!

3 weeks already...

Yes, it's hard to believe that Rachel is 3 weeks old. She's a lot more fun now - she doesn't sleep AS much but she still enjoys it (like her Mommy). She's eating about 3oz at each feeding now and she likes to eat every 3-4 hours - sometimes a bit longer. Guess it depends on how good those dreams are. : )

I've been a good Mommy and I'm keeping up with her baby book. Who knew there would be so much to fill in so soon!

Here are three pictures with her pig. The first one was taken on August 17th so she's only a few days old.

The second one was taken on August 25th so she's 2 weeks old.

And then this one was taken yesterday (3 weeks old)

It looks like she's getting really big but she's just learning that it's more comfortable to sit and stretch out :) However, I'm pretty sure she has put on more weight - heck, I would hope so with the amount she has been eating lately. I can't keep up - we've had to give her formula a couple of times. Ok - I'll admit that the one night I had a bit to drink so it wasn't in her best interest anyway - ha ha

Rachel has grown out of a sleeper already. It was one of my favourites as well (always the way I suppose). However, she has a TON of clothes to replace that one little one she has grown out...if only she would grow more to fit into these other clothes :) Rachel has more shoes than I do and I'm sure she has more clothes than her Dad...including his Davey work shirts! ha ha

That's my update for now...it's nap time!
