Dr. Appointment today - with Ron

Ron joined me at my doctor's appointment today. He got to hear the heartbeat - it was 145 today. It's amazing how many different heartrates I've heard through this pregnancy.

I got the results from my glucose test. The first one - I had 8.3 and normal was 7.8 -10. Even though I was in the normal range, he wanted me to do the 2 hr test just to be safe. I passed that one with flying colours :) At all three stages, I was way below the normal range so that's good. Well, I shouldn't say way below but I wasn't close to failing.

Everything else seems to be on track. I start seeing my OB this Thursday morning and on Friday I'll be 28 weeks! Time is FLYING by!

More good news - Ron is now a patient of Dieter's as well so that will make our life a little easier. He won't have to drive to Clinton to see his doctor (who is a bit of a dork anyway).

Shopping with Auntie Linda

Linda and I went shopping today - not for baby stuff - but ended up with some baby stuff :) They were just too cute to pass up. We went to Zellers to buy a pot for Ron's plant...which by the way was only $5 - ha ha

Here is the outfit that Auntie Linda bought Lil Bean...

It's a little hard to see because I just took the picture a few minutes ago (9:30pm) but it says 'Quack' on it with some duck prints and then a little fuzzy duck on the right side. And of course, little duck slippers to match.

The back of the outfit. That's right - a little duck on the bum. Isn't it the cutest????

I bought the Eyeore and Tigger outfits. I know the Tigger outfit is in blue but it's Tigger and he's my favourite. Besides, a girl can wear blue...I just can't see a boy wearing pink :)

I LOVE this raincoat. It has Tigger and Pooh on it and then the little hat is Tigger's face. It was the only one like it and it's size 12-18 months so I figure it will be good for next spring/early summer. Hopefully Lil Bean will be walking by then so he/she can go outside with Daddy :)

More friends for Lil' Bean

We were outside tonight trying to figure out some flower bed layouts and look what we found...

There are 5 of them in total plus one that didn't make it (he got stuck in the window well - poor little thing). They are just so cute and tiny!

Lil' Bean's friends

While Ron was putting up the light, I took a picture of Lil' Bean's friends...they are waiting for him/her :)

The toy on the left of the crib is something we bought and then the lambs in both corners are from Grandma & Grandad. The little animal in the middle at the back of the crib is from Auntie Donna and then the donkey is something I bought at the warehouses last week - he reminded me of my buddy Gizmo in New Lizard!

Too cute!

New light for the nursery

So it's the Monday of a long weekend and since nothing is open (no shopping - boo hoo) we thought we would put the new light up in the nursery. Well, we as in Ron would put it up.

The old light...anyone want it?

The new one going up - it's going to look so cute!

There is it - the new light with a bee, ladybug and butterfly. Too cute!

Ron is such a good boy - here he is cleaning up. It actually didn't take as long as I thought it would. I'm impressed.

Now it's time to go clean the closet out in the nursery. Not sure what we'll do with all of the photo albums and year books yet.

Shopping in Toronto

Yesterday, Mom, Linda & I went to the warehouses in Toronto and did a bit of shopping! I got a great deal on some wicker baskets for the nursery (one will be a toy box, one will be a laundry hamper and then the other 4 will be for storage on a shelf or dresser), a picture frame, a sleeper, a onesie, some washcloths, a little hat & mitts so Lil Bean can't scratch his/her face, a light for the nursery (from Ikea), a really cool diaper bag (it is sooo soft) and some flowers for the walls in the nursery. We are going to *somehow* put the flowers on the walls and then we'll paint the little bees around the flowers, in addition to other spots on the walls. I think it will look really cute when it's all done.

Ron couldn't believe that I didn't take a picture of all the stuff last night so I did that today after work. Don't want to piss him off - ha ha ha I crack myself up sometimes! :)

My first Mother's Day

Well, I got spoiled on my first Mother's Day :)

On Wednesday of this past week, Beth from work gave me a Mother's Day card. I was all excited about that and it just kept getting better! On Thursday I checked our mail and there was a card from my parents. Then this morning Ron gave me a beautiful card and a Willow Tree statue of a pregnant lady holding her belly. At breakfast this morning, I got a plaque from my parents - it will look awesome in the nursery!

Here is a picture of my gifts (the card from Beth is still at work)

I can't wait until NEXT year :)

Oh...and we bought a new camcorder today, too. We just went in to LOOK at them - we figured the store would be slow with it being Mother's Day - and we were right. The guy that waited on us really knew his stuff and he gave us a great deal on the one we bought! We can take one more thing off our list of things to buy before Lil Bean arrives :)

The nursery is painted!

Yesterday was a fun day! Linda and Mom came over and painted the nursery for us. The paint colour used is called 'butter' and it really does look like that :) We did a painting technique - called 'dragging' and it looks very cool. Hard to see in pictures but oh well, in 'real life' it looks awesome!

Here are some pictures from the day...

Bye bye "Builder Beige' :) Auntie Linda & Grandma painted two coats of white over top of the cheap paint the builder used. This way, when we did the dragging technique, you could see white underneath the yellow and not the beige colour.

Time for yellow paint now :)

Auntie Linda was bad - that's why she's in the corner.

The finished product. Well, not quite finished but at least it's painted now (I know, the carpet doesn't look so nice anymore - oh well). Next on the list is to paint the little bees on the wall - they will be so cute! :)

Stay tuned...

Gifts galore today :)

Lil' Bean is spoiled already! What a lucky baby he/she is!

I met Mom at The Baby Furniture Outlet today at lunch because they had a crib and dresser on sale. Of course they were sold out. Anyway, we happened to check out this one other part of the store and there it was...'THE' crib. It is so awesome! "Grandma" and "Grandad" bought the crib for Lil' Bean and his/her brothers/sisters :) Ron and I picked the crib up after work tonight and bought a mattress, too!

Linda is coming over to paint the nursery tomorrow but I couldn't wait to set up the crib so we set it up tonight! I figured it would be good to have some help with this and as it turned out, the extra help did come in handy.

Ron is starting to put it together. Thankfully there weren't a million pieces to put together :)

"Grandad" and "Grandma" helping out.

TA DA!!!! The finished product...with bedding and mobile. Isn't it beautiful? I love the drawer underneath - it is HUGE and will come in handy for all of the blankets and quilts that Nellie made.

My parents left around 10 so Ron could do a little bit more studying (he's writing an ISA exam tomorrow morning in Toronto) and I decided I would go fill Ruby up since the light came on today. Ron said he would fill her up in the morning but I'm sure that's the last thing he'll want to do at 6am. Anyway, we were moving vehicles around (we still have Nellie's van) and I noticed someone walking towards our house. It was Jennifer from the Todays Parent forum. I met Jennifer last year online after we lost the first baby. She was a great support system for me and as it turned out, she grew up in London - just around the corner from me! SMALL world! Anyway, she lives in Toronto now but is visiting her Mom in Dorchester this weekend. She stopped by because she had made something for the baby and she wanted to give it to me...

Isn't it beautiful? I cried when I saw it! What a talented, sweet, thoughtful lady she is! The card was really cute too - it said Congrats on the impending birth of the baby and then something about hoping that we can agree on a BOYS name. Now, Jennifer predicted I would get pregnant at the end of November (conception date according to the charts is Dec 2 so she's pretty close). She was bang on with some other things in my life so it will be interesting to see if we have a boy or a girl. She also thinks I'll be having this baby on August 17th. :)

Well, after a VERY exciting day, I think it's time to catch some zzzzz's. Hopefully I will calm down enough to sleep. Maybe I should turn the mobile on - ha ha

Have to do another glucose test

Well, I received a call from the doctor today that I need to do a 2hr glucose test tomorrow morning. Oh how exciting...NOT! I will definitely be bringing a book with me to read because an hour on Monday was a long time!

I should have known that something like this would happen to me. It is ME we're talking about after all and anything that CAN happen, WILL happen to me. Just my friggin' luck! Oh well, if I have gestational diabetes, I have it - nothing I can do to change that. If I have to meet with a dietician, they'll have their work cut out for them! ha ha

That's my news today. I guess I won't be buying anymore cakes when I have cravings. Good thing I enjoyed the one on Sunday :)

Prenatal Appointment today

Well, Lil Bean does NOT like the Doppler. Everytime the doctor would try to get a better listen at the heartbeat, he/she would move away from it. We did manage to hear it and it was 150bpm today. Everything else is right on track and I've only put on 3lbs in the last 4 weeks. Not bad at all.

After my appointment I went to do the 1 hour Glucose test. Nothing like drinking some orange pop at 9 in the morning :) Hopefully I pass this test so that I don't have to do the 3 hour test. I would imagine that if I fail the test, the doctor will call before my next appointment.

I'm going back to the doctor on May 30th at 5pm. I made the appointment for later in the day so that Ron can hear the heartbeat - well, hopefully Lil Bean will cooperate that day! Then I start seeing my OB on June 2nd. That appointment is at 9am so hopefully it's not a long wait. Then on June 5th at 3pm, I have to go back to the hospital for my Rhogam shot since I have A- blood and we don't know what type Ron has. WOO HOO - can't wait for THAT day! Oh well, it's all worth it.

Well, today is the first day of my 4 day weeks. I can't wait! It's fun not having to go to work. In fact, I think it's nap time now...

We're registered!

Last night Ron and I thought we would head over to Toys "R" Us and check out the baby registry they have. It was nice and quiet in the store so we decided to set up our own registry.

An hour and a half later, we were happy with the choices we made :) Of course we had to make a purchase while we were there because Lil Bean was so good and cooperated with everything! ha ha

This has got to be one of the coolest things around - it will come in handy over and over and over again. Heck, you can even plug your MP3 player into the music area and listen to your own music. I like Lil Bean will like that...but only Rob Thomas...no Josh Groban (got it Grandma?)!!

I remember when we registered for our wedding, we put stuff on there that we thought would be great to have but never expected to get. This time around, it's the same thing but I'm sure if we don't get it at our showers, we'll be buying it ourselves! ha ha (Ron was having way too much fun in the one toy aisle last night).

I have a prenatal appointment tomorrow morning at 8:15. I can't wait to hear the heartbeat again. From now on, I'll be making my appointments later in the afternoon/evening so Ron can join me and hear the heartbeat. I know, I'm just too nice of a wife! HA HA HA

Gifts from Oma

Sam and Nellie stopped by our house this afternoon before we took them to the airport (they are in flight to Holland right now as I type this). Anyway, Nellie brought in this hamper FULL of baby gifts. They were all wrapped up and she told me that we could open them all up tonight. She let me open one of the gifts before we left for the airport. It's a beautiful home made sweater. Lil' Bean is going to look so cute in it! :)

Here are the rest of the goodies that were in the basket...

TONS of blankets (she made them all), burp cloths (she had to put a note in there for me so I would know what they were! ha ha) and some sheets (again, she made them). And then a little basket full of bath goodies for Lil Bean - including shampoo, powder, lotion, washcloths, etc.
On top of all of this, there was a card (with the cutest little kitty cat on the front) with a cheque inside for us to buy baby stuff. Yes, of course I cried when I saw that...hey, don't laugh - Ron was quite emotional, too. Honestly, I think it's all finally settling in that we're going to have a baby in a few months.

Lil Bean is going to be soooooooooooooo spoiled! :)
