Birth Announcements in the newspaper
Looking back at a previous post
Rachel is sleeping right now so I thought I'd take a couple of minutes and try to get caught up on my email. Ya right - I'm here instead!
At any rate, I was looking back at my post from August 7th about the website predicting labour, the sex of the baby, weight, etc.
Let me refresh your memory:
The day you deliver, outside will be cloudy. Your baby will arrive in the evening. After a labor lasting approximately 2 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 7 pounds, 3 ounces, and will be 20 inches long. This child will have green eyes and a lot of hair.
How freaky is that? I mean, she has blue eyes and was only 19 inches long but it did make me chuckle that the rest of the information is bang on. Oh - except the labour - unless you count from 8pm on when my water officially broke (It had been leaking the whole day). And as for the weather - I'm not sure. Hmmm...I think it was a nice day.
It's still entertaining!

A quick update
We went to see Dr. D today and Rachel is back up to 7lbs so that's a great thing because she's gaining weight. She is still only eating 2 ounces at each feeding but she's eating every 3-4 hours now as well. So much for all that sleep! ha ha No big deal though because she's worth it...and besides, I can always nap when she naps!
Here are some recent pictures
This picture was taken today (August 24) while Mommy was checking email.
Rachel roaring like a lion (she was really yawning)
Rachel on Monday (August 21) - getting ready to go to see some people at Mommy's work.
She's going to be a tree person just like her Daddy :)
I'm so glad that Rachel is here already - I was thinking today that my official due date is tomorrow and it's almost been 2 weeks that I haven't been pregnant. How nice :) Although I miss the little kicks and punches in my belly, they are much more fun to watch in person!

We survived the first week!
What a busy week! We had people over visiting every single night and it was so much fun! Rachel is one popular little girl. She has received sooooo many gifts. The laundry is finally all caught up and even the 'thank you' cards are all done and in the mail (Yes, I'm aware that I'm still anal about stuff like that). We are going to go for a walk this afternoon over to the mailbox to mail all of the birth announcements, too.
We celebrated her 'one week' birthday yesterday with Grandad, Grandma, Uncle Dave & Aunt Andrea. Grandma made dinner *cha-ching*. The funny thing is Ron and I could barely stay awake until 9:40pm. I guess it's finally catching up to us...we may need a nap this afternoon.
Rachel was a hit at Church this morning. She was so good during Mass as well...just slept through it. She got her first blessing at Communion as well. Everyone was so excited to see her!
Here are a couple of pictures from this past week...
Nap time for Mommy & Daddy now *yawn*

What a good little girl
Rachel is an amazing baby. We put her to bed last night, in her crib in her own room, at 10pm. She woke up at 1am so Ron changed her bum and tried to give her something to eat but she wasn't hungry. She went right back to sleep. Then she was awake at 6 this morning so Ronnie went in and took care of her - fed her, changed her, etc.
She's eating really well now which makes us happy since she wasn't too interested up until now. She's feeding about every 3 hours during the day but then at night when she sleeps - that's all she wants to do. Works for us so far :)
Here's a picture of Ron changing her while we were still in the hospital. Check out the sweat on his forehead. Poor Boo Bear!
Ok - there is no doubt that this is Ron's child. I guess Rob Thomas isn't the Father after all - ha ha. Seriously though, she looks so much like Ron in this picture. The funniest part of it though - Ron doesn't think she looks like him. I guess he only spends a few minutes a day looking at himself in the mirror while he shaves.
Daddy & Grandad are at the pub right now - celebrating with Grandad's friends so I thought I'd have a little fun...
Apparently big sunglasses are all the style so we have a 'stylin' kid' ha ha

Cutie Patootie
Rachel getting ready to come home from the hospital.
Peek a boo!! :) Check out the hair on this kid!
Lil' Bean has arrived :)
I don't have a lot of time to post right now but I wanted to announce that Ron & I are thrilled that Rachel Olivia Wammes is here!!! She arrived on Saturday, August 12 at 9:40pm weighing in at 7lbs 3oz and was 19 inches long at birth. She's just a tiny little thing. Here are some pictures until I have time to tell the story...
Rachel Olivia Wammes - minutes old :)
Me & Rachel. Labour was a piece of cake - it was the stitching of the 3rd degree tear that wasn't so much fun!

My horoscope for today
Saturn and Mars speak of your need to remain focused on an issue that needs serious attention. You need to sort this one out soon. The moment you do, you truly will have something great to celebrate.
How fun! :)
My blood pressure was a little high this morning so if it's still high when I re-test in a few hours, I think I'll call the doctor and see what they want me to do. I'm still having contractions but they are all over the place so nothing is regular yet. A few people at work think today is the day - I guess we'll see how smart they are! :)

3cm dilated...
What an interesting day!
I went for a massage this morning - ohhhh so heavenly and worth every penny I tell ya :) Then this afternoon I had an OB appointment. Dr. M is on vacation so I had an appointment with Dr. White instead. She measured my belly, took my blood pressure (165/100 - VERY bad but thankfully it came down later on), listened to the heartbeat (144) and then decided to check my cervix. Well, as it turns out, I'm 3cm dilated and 'ripening' very well (Ron thinks it's funny they use the word ripen). Anyway, she sent me down to the Birthing Centre for a non stress test, another urine sample, blood work, blood pressure check and an ultrasound.
Lil' Bean is doing very well in there, my blood pressure was good, my blood work was good and the ultrasound was cool, too. It's amazing how big Lil' Bean is now. Dr. White is pretty sure that it won't be long now. Originally she was going to induce me because of my blood pressure but once it went back to normal, she sent me home since things were progressing well on their own. I have to change my appointment with Dr. M from next Thursday to Monday instead as per Dr. White so the chances of Lil' Bean arriving by next week are pretty good. Dr. White said that no matter what, they will not let me go past my due date because of my blood pressure and swelling in my feet.
With all that said - I'm officially done work now. I'm a little sad about that because it's been kind of fun the past couple of weeks. Good thing Aimee was training earlier than expected - she should be good to go now. I do have to go into work tomorrow but it will be just to figure out if I should go on short term disability or use vacation time until Lil' Bean arrives.
Quite the update, eh? :)

Hospital bag is FINALLY packed!

Ok - well, there are 3 bags - one for me while I'm in labour, one for Lil' Bean and then one for the rest of my crap. :)
I'm glad it's done and out of the way now. The only thing we'll need to grab before we go to the hospital is my pillow. Oh - and the camera & video camera.
One more thing I can take off my list of things to do! YA HOO!
Hospital bag still not packed!
I know! I know! I need to get it done. TODAY is the day. I still have to wash my new pj's before I pack them. Once the laundry is done, I'll be able to pack. It's only 7:18am right now - I've got lots of time to get all of this done today.
Had a little chuckle over a website a friend directed me to. I've been there before but I forgot how funny it is. You answer a bunch of questions and then they give you a prediction about the birth of your baby. Here is mine (too good to be true really)
2 hours of labour, 7lbs, 3oz and 20in long - it's just too good to be true. The green eyes is interesting because blue eyes (Ron) and brown eyes (Me) don't produce green eyes. Hmmm..maybe Rob Thomas IS the father of my baby! ha ha
I'm getting pretty organized when it comes to the birth announcements. I have them all addressed and then I have 33 completely done. Well, I guess not completely done since we still have to write in all the information about Lil' Bean. But I think I'm doing well - 33 in one day - not bad. I would have kept working on them yesterday but we decided to go for a swim instead. We might go swimming again today but it will be earlier in the day so we can go to the balloon festival tonight at 6.
Ron took a couple of pictures yesterday while I was working on the baby announcements...
What a mess!
Speaking of fun...time to go work on a few more cards....and laundry and then packing my bag!

20 days until my due date
Wow - I remember when I had over 200 days to go and now I have TWENTY! Time is going by very fast and I'm really not complaining about that. I'm at the point in my pregnancy where my feet are swollen, my back hurts, my back cracks, I can't lay down on my back and get myself up - I officially need help with that now ...and some other body parts hurt, too. Other than that, I'm happy as can be. Don't get me wrong - I enjoy being pregnant but I'm at the point now where I would like my body back and of course have Lil' Bean to LOOK at & play with - not just feel inside my body.
The belly is getting out of control now. My belly button has popped :( I honestly didn't think this would happen since I had such a deep 'innie' before. Oh well - it's all worth it. This picture was taken on Thursday night so I was 36 weeks and 6 days pregnant (one day short of 37 weeks).
We've been swimming at Wayne & Lennie's almost every day for the past 3 weeks (ohhh the house is such a mess since we haven't been home and since I have no energy to clean)...anyway, my bathing suit is just one that I used to wear before I was pregnant so it doesn't fit that well anymore but with this recent heat wave, I didn't care (still don't actually) because it allows me to go in the pool and cool down.
I finally bought some pj's for the hospital and after Lil' Bean arrives. How sad that I won't be wearing my Tweety Bird & Mickey Mouse pj's from Grade 8 anymore - ha ha Ron is quite happy about that because he hates my old pj's - they are soooo worn out but in my eyes, they are perfect.
After I do laundry I will be packing my hospital bag FOR SURE this weekend. Michael is supposed to be coming to visit us today from Toronto so that will be fun. Thankfully he won't care about the 10 inches of dust everywhere (it's really not THAT bad trust me).
Ruby is back as well so that means that Ron can install the car seat base sometime this weekend or week as well. Everything is finally coming together!
On that note, I guess I should go do some laundry and some dusting. Nahhhh maybe I'll start making my birth announcements instead - they'll be more fun to do :)

Appt with Dr. M
I went to see Dr. M on Wednesday morning - just a routine prenatal appointment but this time he was doing the test for Group B Strep. It's just something that if it ends up being a positive result, you just have to have antibiotics (via IV) while you're in labour so that the infection isn't passed on to the baby. About 30% of women get this. Wonder if I'll be one of them.
Lil Bean's heartbeat was 152 and sounded great. Dr. M was so cute - when he told me the heartbeat rate he said 'It's a little girl' :) Although I'm not getting my hopes up one way or another because I've had friends who have had high heartbeat readings through their pregnancies and they ended up having boys. Anyway, the head is still in position and ready to go. He also pointed out where the bum and feet were.
I think August 16th would be a nice day to have Lil' Bean. Right in the middle of the month...and just think August = the 8th month and 2006 = 8 if you had it up. So 8/16/2006 is a nice number. Yes, I know - I'm a geek when it comes to numbers - get over it! ha ha
Dr. M is on vacation next week so I will be seeing another doctor instead. Just a regular appointment and then the internal exams start the following week. Maybe Lil' Bean will be born by then - HOW FUN!
22 days to go...

August 1, 2006
Today is Tuesday August 1st 2006.
242 days have passed since the conception, and you are 24 days before your due date.
You are 36 weeks into your pregnancy, and you have 4 weeks to go.
You are in the 3rd trimester.
91% of your pregnancy has passed, there is 9% left to go.
24 days before my due date?
NINE PERCENT of my pregnancy is left? HOLY SMOKES!!!!
It's kind of fun to tell people that I'm due 'THIS MONTH' now :)
I have an appointment with Dr. M tomorrow morning at 9 so I'll be sure to update my blog at some point tomorrow - you know, after working & swimming :)
